He has played flute for thousands of record, television, and movie soundtracks, including Mission Impossible, Roots, ET, Jaws, Out of Africa, and Apollo 13. A three time winner of the MVP award for flute from the National Academy of Arts, he also received their prestigious Emeritus award in 1984. He has written numerous pieces for flute, and is the author of The Illustrated Method For Flute and Special Effects For Flute. He has premiered solo works by Paul Chihara, John Williams, Henri Lazarof, Harry Bulow, and was solo flute with the Hollywood Academy Awards Orchestra in 1997 and 1998. |

Jared Ferguson is a composer and former student of Sheridon Stokes. An alumnus of the UCLA Music Department, he was formerly a member of the UCLA Philharmonia, Flute Consort, and various other chamber groups across California. He takes an interest in developing new extended flute techniques and writing contemporary music that is both engaging and approachable. He also designed this site, The Wild Flute Web Page. Jared relocated to the Pacific Northwest in 2002 and currently works a day job as software specialist, while still composing and tinkering with new music as much as time allows. M. Fred Knox is an artist, potter, and musician, working from her studio in Auburn, California. She is the graphic artist for the CD Wild New Music For Flute, including much of the artwork displayed on this web site. She is currently engaged in monotype printmaking, and performing Irish music in the Starry River Ceili Band - based in the foothills of the Sierra Nevada mountains. |
